How Homeowners Spend Their Money On Home Improvements

September 7, 2013 By Dexter

While home ownership brings plenty of headaches and bills it also provides exciting opportunities to upgrade and improve one’s own space and home. From landscaping to shutters, entertainment rooms to complete kitchen renovations, these projects, albeit costly and time consuming, can significantly improve and enhance the value of a home and bring great personal satisfaction.

We came across the inforgraphic below from Census.gov that shows the breakdown of home improvement expenditures across the nation from 2009-2011. As a shutter company we of course were particularly interested in seeing that windows/doors were the 3rd most common home improvement made (20% of homeowners) and one of the lowest median costs ($1200). There is no doubt in our mind that the cost of shutters is easily offset by the long term value (energy savings, home value, aesthetics, privacy etc.) they bring to a home. Check out the infographic below and good luck with your next project!
